PHILADELPHIA HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATOR NAMED CLAES NOBEL EDUCATOR OF DISTINCTION
Kimberly Killen was recently selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). Mrs. Killen was nominated by Aja Dupree (11th grade) for outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in the profession. Aja nominated Mrs. Killen because of her determination to help others learn, whether that be tutoring or figuring out a different way to teach a certain topic. Mrs. Killen makes school a bit more fun.
Philadelphia Public School District Achieves “B” Rated Accountability Score
The Philadelphia Public School District is thrilled to announce a significant and historic advancement in academic performance, as it has achieved a “B” rating for the 2023-24 school year and is considered to be a High Performing School District according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This achievement marks a dramatic turnaround for the district, which was classified as a failing district in 2019 and has made remarkable strides to reach this new milestone.

In a gesture of goodwill and commitment to community health and safety, former New Orleans Saints Hall of Famer and Philadelphia High School Alum, Fred McAfee, in collaboration with the New Orleans Saints organization, has generously donated two life-saving defibrillators to Philadelphia High School.
Philadelphia High School Named National Beta School of Merit and Distinction 2023-2024
Philadelphia Public Schools is proud to announce that Philadelphia High School is a 2023-2024 National Beta School of Merit. The school earned this recognition by offering National Beta to all eligible grades on their campus. National Junior Beta includes grades 4-8 and National Senior Beta includes grades 9-12.
Willis attends gifted camp for African American youth
Philadelphia High School’s MaKenzie Willis joined other gifted students from across the state at last month’s African American Youth of Mississippi Excelling (AAYME) camp.
